Disney's Vacation Club - Overview & Is It Right For You?

Disney's Vacation Club - can be wonderful, and it also can be burdensome!

How It Works

First, you have to purchase a real estate interest  in a Disney Resort. Then each year you will receive a certain amount of points (that will expire within a year) to use toward your Disney vacation. The larger your real estate interest (which means the more you paid in the beginning) the more points you will get to use toward a better resort, more days, or better accommodations. You choose how you want to spend your points.

If you don't have enough points to go on the vacation you want, you can plan ahead and "bank" your points for the current year and use them with next years points. If you don't plan ahead, then your points will expire.

You can always purchase more real estate interest - which will give you more points to spend.

The BEST reason to buy into Disney's Vacation Club, is to make your family spend time together on a vacation every year.

The number of Vacation Points you'll use for each trip depends on where you vacation, how long you stay, what time of year you go, and which accommodations you select.

Every year you will have dues to pay and a transaction fee. These fees will increase a little every year.

Is it right for your family??
Probably not. It really doesn't save you money with the annual dues and the transaction costs. The ONLY reason I would purchase a timeshare, is to make sure my family went on a vacation every year and spend quality time together. If your family already goes on vacation, then I definitely would buy into this.
